"Music is the universal language of mankind"
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

821 Music Group is led by music industry veteran, Anastasia Brown.  As a music supervisor Brown engages in each project with a comprehensive view; serving the film while also keeping the specific audience of each film at the forefront of every decision.  “Our purpose is to help create music that is woven into the fabric of the film or TV series while also being a stand alone item for consumption – it’s emotional and valuable,” says Brown.

Why Nashville?   This is the town of world-class troubadours, musicians, studios and artists – of all genres – poised to provide inspiration and the outstanding ability to swiftly create music with heart and soul.  The only way to really know the talent and have a relationship with that talent is to live here; ultimately becoming a magnet for what directors, studios and producers truly need.

Why 821?  Every decision is made from the heart first and psyche second.  Clearing charting songs or hits can be impressive – but the audience craves authenticity and can go to iTunes in the blink of an eye.  What we prefer to concentrate on is creating original music – whether it’s recording classics in new and fresh ways or finding future hits and artists – it serves the film/TV series and the audience.  We want to create trends, not follow them.

To quote Leo Tolsky, “Music is the shorthand of emotion.”  Music can fill in the voids or magnify them.  It can bring a spotlight to a project and also break an artist or a song.  While there are always different priorities among the production team, we strive to align them so the distinct parties benefit, single’s rights are granted, the buzz grows bigger and the initial goal is exceeded.
